Anyone take their Windows and Pentium stickers off?
Anyone take their Windows and Intel Pentium stickers off their Thinkpads? They came off after tons of use on my old TP but I am considering trying to take them off on this one.
I don't want to start to take them off though and be left with gummy sticker nastiness but if there's a good way to get them the whole way off that would be great. Any tips? Thanks

I moved mine because I didn't want it to wear down/rub off. It was warm and humid at the time so it came up pretty easy - i just peeled. it was a little bit of a pain though, and some of the sticky sort of "folded back" on itself. As such, one corner of the sticker wants to peel up a little, but it's not too bad.
I have a 15" T42p and was able to fit the Pentium M sticker in the upper right corner of the bezel/palm-rest. It just fits up there, if the Windows sticker is the same height it should fit too. (Mine was a bare frame model so I didn't get a windows sticker. Kind of wish I had one though. I'd love to purchase another P-M sticker too so I have one that sticks properly...

I'm perfectly well aware which O/S and which processor 'equipe' my T42 - the stickers came off after about 2 days - just slide a nail (finger as opposed to 4 inch) or sharp object (wifes toungue?) under a corner and peel off - remaining residue (from sticker, not toungue) can be removed by sticking the sticky part of the sticker (you try getting it in a sentence three times!) repeatedly onto the remaining grunge on the palmrest...
Do I make myself clear??

ok the IBM is now debadged
it's amazing how much oil and sunlight get onto the case b/c it is discolored where the two stickers were (but i'm sure my palm on it for a few days will change that). i detest those stickers. in fact, i detest all stickers - especially the ones that dealerships put on people's vehicles.
btw, i thought the wife's tongue comment was great! michael's comment about stroking his case is pretty disturbing (i mean come on it's not a mac) haha...

Anyone who passes their time 'stroking' a laptop is seriously derranged and should have their thinkpads.com membership revoked...this said, I have grave doubts about the kiwi trying to paint his wifes tongue with nail-polish remover but I'll not mention it here...dmcgibbo wrote: michael's comment about stroking his case is pretty disturbing (i mean come on it's not a mac) haha...

Well, I went the other direction. I bought my T-30 used and the stickers were not in good shape. I searched through eBay and bought new ones and replaced the worn ones with the nice, new shiny ones! I like all my stuff to be stock...just a preference I suppose...plus the new stickers covered up the discolored rectangles.

I seriously can't see a point to those Stickers, they just annoy me; I know darn well what I am running and I can tell you that Windows XP isn't the only thing that runs fine on the T43. I took them off and bounced them a tad to get the sticky goo off of there.

My beyond aging 380ED still has the discolored rectangle area on the wristpad from where the Pentium sticker used to be so I just peeled off a Pentium 4 sticker that was on one of the Dell desktops at school and put it on my wristpad and it's a perfect fit, covers the rectangle perfectly and less comptuer literate people now see my ThinkPad that really has a P-MMX 166 and think it's a P4.

Mine come off computers immediately after verifying that the thing won't "release the magic smoke" on power-on. If the sticker won't lift off residual adhesive, Goo Gone or the equivalent from any five and dime store will work. (I use a soft damp cloth after it to remove the Goo Gone from the surface.)
Some wankers suggest nail polish, but that can melt some plastic surfaces. I know. I've done it.

I like the way the logo was done on all of the older ThinkPads where it was small and didn't interfere with anything and would be placed either to the side of the screen, right under the screen or above the keyboard. While I don't really think that having the ThinkPad logo on the wristpad is all too bad, I do think it's a little too large and that it interferes a good bit with the rest of the computers looks.johnchan wrote:i wished the IBM logo wasnt there either, like no name, that'd make this laptop perfect, except for the fan noise pulsing thing of course!
