Think Core 2 is fast? Intel Penryn and Nehalem details...

#1 Post by K. Eng » Wed Mar 28, 2007 9:00 pm

Ars Technica on Penryn

Similar to Core 2, but with a heavily upgrated FPU/SSE engine, improved virtualization, and some new power saving features. Due late this year (2007)

Ars Technica on Nehalem

Integrated memory controller, and integrated graphics in some models! Nehalem represents Intel's biggest change in system architecture ever. The front side bus as we know it will be replaced by something called CS. Intel projects a release in the second half of 2008.

I'm pretty excited about these new products. We should see some spectacular stuff in notebooks in the next two years :D
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Once again Ars is on the spot with the news. I love that site and have been a member and subscriber for years. I do miss the old stuff such as CPU Praxis and whatnot.

I want a quad core laptop with on die SLI by 2008 please. Can the Intel bunnies deliver? I certainly hope so.
