Is it possible to purchase a barebones ThinkPad from Lenovo?

I read somewhere that one can purchase a barebones machine with warranty before and now it isn't possible anymore. Anyone have comments on this? Thanks.

They actually pop up from time to time. I have searched for them before and not found them, and then a few days later, stumble across them....but the last time was a few months back.

I don't know if it is possible via regular online/phone order methods, but we have place orders for barebone thinkpads (with warranty) via my school's lenovo sales contact.

Hmmm, so this could be a corporate/volumer order thing?

Exactly why I asked about the topic (same seller as well). Seems to be getting it in bulk. I checked the Lenovo US page and found that they still have T60 systems with customer configured RAM, HD, etc like this one. I know these could be the base models for their CTO machines but since the ebay seller can get them, there has to be a way.
