Which ThinkPad is for me? (i hope this is the right section)

Help me decide.

going to use this for college, will carry around a bit, but will mostly stay on a desk at work or in the dorm rather than in class. will be my primary computer since my desktop is crappy.

ended up preferring Lenovo due to fondness for matte screen..

not too much gaming, too busy these days but every now and then yes, mostly online ones, some of which are 3-d based.

was considering a T61 with a Quadro 140m.. but started having second thoughts.

last IBM owned was an sxga+ 14" T43 and liked its size and coolness.
I'm a little worried the T61 may be quite thick which I'm not too keen on. perfect resolution. I like some decent viewing angles though but willing to compromise on things of course since there is no perfect notebook.

some other options I been pondering
- older T60p with sxga+ or a wsxga+ version with either an x1400 or v5200/50 card
- a regular T60 with sxga+ flexview, but with an x1300 card
- or give up gaming and fancy screens and get an X61 to make use of easy portability and either leave gaming to future investments in a desktop (although the new x3100 can do some mild gaming). buy an external camera, and maybe hope for that xg station external gpu
- or the x61 tablet which has a higher resolution than the regular x61.

prefer not to spend over $1700, ideally up to $1500, cheaper the better of course.

but what I want:
at least 1.8ghz, ideally 2.0
1gb ram
dvd+-R, although i guess for x series, I will have to make do with external
for the smaller x series, I may end up getting an external monitor for home use

Sounds to me a T60/1 would be ideal. Plus they have the best keyboards.

I prefer my X60s. I get battery life for like 7 straight classes. 8)
