Perfect Warranty/Solectron Experience June 2007...

#1 Post by underclocker » Tue Jun 26, 2007 6:28 am

Warranty experience with Solectron via EZServ is still hit or miss.

I sent in a T41p with the typical loose video chip issue. I called it in on Monday, had a DHL box on Tuesday, they worked on it on Wednesday, I received it back on Thursday morning - in perfect condition!

Every screw, screw cover, and case clip was installed perfectly. They even swapped in the correct systemboard (FireGL T2 w/128MB RAM).

Amazing service (like the old days).

FYI, the time before, in May 2007, it took three trips to Solectron to get an R50 with a video problem and bad LCD fixed. But after the third trip, it too, was returned in perfect condition. That was frustrating.

Good to hear that it's still possible to get good service from Solectron. Speaking of LCD warranty replacements, if you get a red tint to an LCD on the first few seconds of power up, will Lenovo replace that under warranty?

It sounds like the inverter, either way, they will fix it. Good luck.

Good news, thanks. I have onsite repair. So it won't be Solectron this time.

Well, I have nothing to complain about Solectron merely because I have never dealt with them...

But I saw one of my friend's thinkpad after been serviced by Solectron, apparently the screen was full of finger prints with some liquid (we believe) spilled over the lcd.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Actually, red tint on startup is a failing backlight-but it won't matter as I am sure your onsite service will probably replace most of the top screen assembly!
I lost count...
