ThinkPad's 15th Birthday

#1 Post by WilsonF » Thu Jul 19, 2007 8:22 am

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/07/19 ... _thinkpad/

I didn't have one of the original 700s, but I had a 720 with a blazing 50mhz CPU, (I think) 8MB of RAM, and a 10" B&W screen. I don't recall the battery life because my eyes tired with the tiny and dim screen long before the battery wore out.

I lugged it all over Europe and to Hong Kong and Singapore.

Bill Morrow and others were on a ThinkPad (or maybe IBM) forum on CompuServe when I got my first TP in 1993.

If I recall correctly, my first TP was over $2K in 1993 dollars, about the same as my considerably improved T60p.

Sorry if this post doesn't belong in this forum - I didn't know where else to put it.

Very sweet!

On a sidenote, someone has already posted it before in General forum.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
