It looks as if Lenovo's doing much better than anyone would have thought -- the thinkpad division is actually turning in profits!
Lenovo profit leaps more than 1,000%
The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area - 11:49 AM EDT Thursday, August 2, 2007
Lenovo, the world's No. 3 PC manufacturer, saw after-tax profits jump 13-fold in the second quarter on strong shipments of computers.
The company is planning a distribution center in Greensboro, boosted income in the quarter to $67 million, or 74 cents per diluted share - up from $5 million, or 6 cents per diluted share, a year ago.
Revenue increased 13 percent to $3.93 billion from $3.48 billion.
Sales were strong in all of the company's geographic areas, including the traditionally flagging Americas. PC shipments in the Americas jumped 15 percent year-over-year, and the segment accounted for $1.1 billion in consolidated revenue.
Lenovo, whose shares trade in Hong Kong, employs about 1,350 in the Triangle. [/b]

can i point to specific points..? not without a lot of thinking back 5 years or more..
it was always a wonder to me that the biggest computer name worldwide could not make a profit with the best laptop..
