connecting to tv

hi i have looked over the internet and numerous forums in search for this answer , how do you connect a IBM Thinkpad T41 to your tv, i have bought two cables now one was a s-video - scart and the other was a s-video - s-video both i have tried and both had not worked all i get is a quik flash of white across the tv screen but then remains black with no picture or sound, any one got any ideas with my problem??

Have you tried connecting the cable to the tv before booting the laptop? With the laptops I've used, it wouldn't work unless they were connected and the tv was on before I booted.

I wrote in the following thread the procedure that needs to be followed. You will need a separate cable from the headphone jack on the ThinkPad to your TV audio line in jack to hear the sound on the TV.
