Widescreen X series in the making?

#1 Post by gator » Thu Sep 13, 2007 4:35 pm

I saw this pic in David Hill's post on Lenovologs:

The laptops in the back look like a 12" widescreen to me ... any takers? Or am I just myopic? :D
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Without a scale bar it's hard to tell how big those three laptops are. I guess the rightmost one is 4:3 and the other two are widescreen? The two widescreen displays are slightly smaller diagonally than the 4:3 one, so I agree with you that they are 12.1" widescreen X series, and the 4:3 laptop is a 14.1" T series.

Another possibility that's less likely: The 4:3 is a 12.1" X series, and the other two are 11.1" widescreen X series! Perhaps Lenovo wants to make something like the Vaio TX series!
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Exactly my line of thought! :thumbs-UP:

I'll wager that they are 12" widescreens, but I am very positive that we won't see a smaller thinkpad (unless they decide bring back the S30, that is!).

What makes you think they are Thinkpads and not 3000s?

Yep, that's certainly a possibility. But if you look at the leftmost laptop, it looks kind of like an X series sitting on a dock.

The right one is Hp 2510p, rest could be Acer 6292 and Dell Latitude D420. Lenovo did a study on those notebooks.

As far as the introduction of X series in WS format is concerned, with the advent of Santa Rosa platform it was thought about offering them. But things did not go as planned so there is no secret there, in future you might see them.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I zoomed in the pic as large as I could get, and the middle widescreen laptop looks like it has the external antenna thing from the x60 series.

You cannot tell anything from the pic - it could be a V100 or it could be an X series with the screen tilted back. That is obviously a showroom of sorts so they wont be OEM systems nor will they be pre-release models.

However, as I have said before, the next iteration of X series will have to be widescreen.
