Penryn is looking pretty healthy, with limited release for server and high end desktop on Nov. 12th of this year. I'm only wishing that notebook versions would be available soon after, but it looks like we'll have to wait until 2008 for that.

The big news is Nehalem. Intel showed off a working Nehalem demo running Windows XP. 4 cores, 8 threads  Nehalem brings an Integrated Memory Controller and QuickPath links to the Intel architecture. Projected launch is 2H 2008.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

I got a Yorkfiel witch is Quad Core with 2 x 6 MB L2 cache. It can run only with a large heatsink without fan. Impressive.
