lenovo box with no barcode?

#1 Post by dracore » Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:17 am

Hi all,

Is is possible to have a lenovo thinkpad shipping box but without any barcodes (s/n, part #), etc..?

I understand probably not if you're buying from Lenovo directly... but lets say in the situation where you buy from eBay. They say it's brand new unopened and all, but they also say there is no white label with serial numbers.

Could this be an indication that it's a refurbished unit? (for example, Apple ships refurbished laptops in a plain brown unmarked box)

Lenovo marks all boxes with a UPC, all the newer ones atleast. I suggest you communicate with the seller and get as much information as you can.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I think you answered you own questions, Lenovo will do the same thing....with Refurbs...the warranty is 90 or 180 days and most of the time it will show as having NO WARRANTY on the lenovo site. It is a little trickier to get warranty coverage on these machines...

So my answer to the refub...YES! But again, check with the seller. If it is ThinkPadWorld on eBay...most of his stuff is refurbished, if he has NEW/NEVER OPENED goods it will say NEW in the subject line. If the subject line states "Three Year warranty" yeah...but a small fraction of that with Lenovo...
