Memory missing after onsite service

#1 Post by Brad » Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:10 am

I had the motherboards replaced in two T43p's yesterday using the available on site service.

Today I took a look at the memory size when looking at the BIOS screen on one of the ThinkPads. 1GB is reported. I thought that was strange because I thought I had 2gb's. Then I thought that maybe there was a problem with the motherboard only recognizing one slot. Powered down and opening the underneath slot revealed no memory. Now I was positive I had 2 X 1gb chips in the computer.

I went to the other T43p and again opened up the bottom slot to again reveal no memory chip when I knew I had 2 X 1gb's.

I have the technician's telephone number. Should I call the technician or Lenovo?

What should I do next? I would appreciate anyone's thoughts. This has never happened before.

I would call the technician and give him a chance to return your modules. Threaten to call the police (if he denies it) and follow through if necessary. If you call Lenovo he'll deny it and you'll never see them again. It is important to either watch these guys all the time or check everything B4 they leave.

Thanks Harry.

Did you edit to add calling the police?

Yes, it was an afterthought, but a good one I think.

Maybe the technician needs the memory more than I do. Should I pray for him?

"Thou shalt not steal" is one of the ten commandments for a good reason. What would God do?

I am not a religous person so I don't know what he would do.

When I called he said that he did not see a second chip in the bottom slot. He said he would go to UPS to look at the boards to see if he left the chips in there and would call me back.

Is one of the commandments "I shall not lie" or is that just George Washington.

I expect his call sometime today asking when he can come back and bring me the two chips. One of which could have been the one I bought from you Harry.

LOL, I am not either , but I saw your comment "should I pray for him," and I thought it called for a religious answer. :).
