Lenovo has quietly opened a new discussion forum at http://forum.lenovo.com (or forums.lenovo.com - both work) while all the links are getting put into place on their web site. Announcements about it will follow next week, I think.

Mark and Tim have helped us in the past, and Bill kindly loaned out a few of us from his moderation team, as well as some of his hard-won experience in building his own forum, to help Lenovo get theirs up and running.

Here's the objectives statement from their Welcome message (along with the obligatory legalese):

*******
Objectives of Lenovo Discussion Forums

These communities have been created to provide a high quality atmosphere in which users of Lenovo products and services may share experiences and expertise. While members from Lenovo may participate at intervals to engage in the discussions and offer advice and suggestions, this forum is not designed as a dedicated and staffed support channel. This is an informal and public forum, and Lenovo does not guarantee the accuracy of information and advice posted here -- see important Warranty information below.

*******

Don't panic - Bill's forum isn't going away.

Well, very glad to hear the last - and most important - part: this forum isn't going anywhere. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression from what has been written up to now was that Lenovo was giving Bill quite a hard time and no cooperation at all. If that was/is the case, why would Bill go out of his way to help Lenovo out? Or is this just a "better we do it than someone else" situation?

You'll have to ask Bill for details about any issues he and IBM or Lenovo may have had in the past when he was a reseller.

Mark and Tim, however, have nothing to do with any of that. They're with Lenovo SocialMedia and have been working with us behind the scenes here for over a year to resolve issues for our forum members as well as those from other discussion groups. Now they've opened their own forum that covers all of Lenovo's products, not just ThinkPads, and we're returning the favor by helping them get it up and running.

As I said before, this forum is not going anywhere. Different types of discussions occur in different places, and there's room for all of us.

It makes sense to help them out, maybe it will change their attitude a bit and reciprocate. In the end everyone comes out better off that way.

Yes Bill, you are correct! Once you know the fact that the 850Mhz T21 systems shipped with the higher resolution SXGA+ screen, then it's a matter of comparing the relative sizes of the desktop icons.

And no, you don't really win anything except bragging rights :) !

I'll take the bragging rights..... :D
I rember reading on here somewhere that only the 850mhz T21's come with the SVGA+ lcd's.
And i owe it all to this place and all the info here...I have had a nice few Thinkpads and other laptops this past few months.I can say that none of the other laptops come close to the Thinkpad.
I've had 570E's , 600's,E's,X's , T21's , T22's , A21's , A22P,A31, A31P,X21,X30 few older ones,Have played with newer T60P's.
The best way i can discribe the Thinkpads is that they just work when ever you want them too!
