Any news on X200?
Anyone here anything lately about the X200? There will be one, right? I'm hoping for a smaller, hopefully more affordable unit than the 300.
From what I've read the X200 will be the successor to the current X6x series, so it will have a 12" screen, except it will be widescreen. But it should offer the option for a non-SSD HD, so yes it should be cheaper than the X300, which is only available with the expensive SSD HD.

the X300 will eventually be available with a 120GB 5400RPM 1.8" hard drive and a lower price to match.hart22 wrote:But it should offer the option for a non-SSD HD, so yes it should be cheaper than the X300, which is only available with the expensive SSD HD.

any idea how that might compare, given the slow processor?erik wrote:the X300 will eventually be available with a 120GB 5400RPM 1.8" hard drive and a lower price to match.hart22 wrote:But it should offer the option for a non-SSD HD, so yes it should be cheaper than the X300, which is only available with the expensive SSD HD.
I really wonder how they're going to position these things. If the X200 replaces the X61(s) and gets a 1.2Ghz C2D, that would be a big stepdown from the current lineup. OTOH, if it gets the faster CPUs as used in the current X61, it would be smaller, cheaper (assuming 2.5" HDD) and faster (CPU) than the X300, which would become a pretty awkward sell.
Come to think of it, the current X61(s) already is smaller, faster and cheaper. If only it had a better screen, I see little reason to get the X300.

You make an interesting point. Will be interesting to see how things play out.pxa270 wrote:I really wonder how they're going to position these things. I bet one difference will be the pixel count. I doubt we'll see 1440x900 on the 200.
Perhaps there really isn't a 200. Now that I think about it, I don't recall ever seeing any confirmation from Lenovo that it exists.

The consensus is that X200 will be a 12" ultra portable without an optical drive, which is exactly what I need. I want it light, small, fast, comes with a DVI port, 1280x800 LED screen, and a webcam.
mod edit: No pics without a warning please.

Ultraportable
It looks like the "X200" will ends up being the X300, very thing (sub 1 inch), 13.3" widescreen LED backlit screen, with solid-state memory and built-in DVD burner or 3-Cell battery.
