Cheapest Thinkpad to use DDR2 memory?

#1 Post by JaYp146 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 5:56 pm

Hey guys,

I'm looking to take advantage of DDR2's continually falling prices.

Therefore, I'm looking into getting a USED/inexpensive Thinkpad that uses DDR2 RAM. I'd be acquiring said laptop via Ebay, forums, or Craigslist and was wondering which models would be the most inexpensive option(s). Planning on getting 2x1GB of DDR2.

I'd like something that's at least 1.3 Ghz, uses DDR2 memory (obviously), has integrated wireless, and is reasonably light (less than 7 lbs. would be ideal). My absolute maximum budget would likely be around $450 or so (college student :x).

Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm sick of my new Acer Aspire 3690 (I actually prefer the feel of my old Thinkpad A21m!) and would love to get my hands on another Thinkpad ...

As far as subnotebooks go, I believe the X41 / X41T were the first to use DDR2 SODIMMs. (The X40 still used DDR)
