What kind of power are we talking about?

#1 Post by Skysurfer » Tue Apr 01, 2008 2:21 pm

It's coming up on that time to buy a new Thinkpad and I need to know what kind of bang for the buck the "P" delivers.

I build economic and financial models primarily using Excel. On my current T43 with 2gb RAM and 7200 rpm HDD some of these models are 100MB in size and can take a few seconds to recalculate.

Will the T6xP make a difference over the non-"P" version?

Thanks,

Lawrence

No. Just get a fast cpu with a big cache (6mb), the choices of those are the same on both models iirc.

I believe the "p" series only offers a faster GPU, which is for 3d applications such as games.
