Mini PCIe 16GB SSD from Sandisk - any word of release?

#1 Post by iamdmc » Wed Apr 02, 2008 5:08 pm

Does anyone recall that Sandisk showed a 16GB SSD prototype/dummy at CES this year that it was supposed to release around mid-year? Has anyone heard anything new about it? I'd very much like a 32GB version of this so I could have the option of not using an SATA HDD/SSD at all.

The X61s has two miniPCI-express card slots, correct?

It can be interesting, but the speeds given by Sandisk are quite poor... Think of it more as an integrated Usb flash memory than as a SSD. They called it Vaulter, and I have no idea about any release date :D.

Slow speed?
What a shame. I'd love to see this as the primary drive in ultraportable laptops... to make them a LOT thinner and more power efficient.
