So far it has served me well, and I have hopes that since it is no longer being used excessively as a primary computer, it will continue to perform its routine tasks with honor.
During the 3-year period I had the machine serviced several times, for the following reasons:
* Broken key on keyboard (due to own stupidity) - TWICE. Each time I brought the machine to the service center, got it fixed on the spot.
* Replaced LCD (15" SXGA+ Flexview) due to a strange problem (looked like light shining through a hole in the panel). Brought the laptop to the lab, the front desk guy first thought that it is a stuck pixel which won't warrant a replacement, but the service guy knew better, and ordered a replacement unit which arrived within two days. Incidentally, this also took care of the 4(!) stuck pixels that the old panel had.
* Replaced DVD Multi Burner when it started producing more coasters than working disks. They actually upgraded me to a Multi Burner Plus (probably because this is what they had in stock), and I had it delivered to my workplace by a courier. Poor guy actually had to come twice, because the first time I didn't have my old faulty drive to give to him. Made me feel somewhat guilty.
* Got the hinges tightened when they started coming a bit loose. I actually noticed that there was a screw missing, but the problem was that I noticed it only yesterday, which was the last day of the warranty. So I called the service center, opened a service call, which they promised to keep open for two weeks, so that I can get service under warranty without being charged. I went there today and had it taken care of. The screen still has some play to it, more than 14" models, but within reasonable bounds.
All and all, I've been happy with the machine and have been happy with the service.
Right now I have the T60 that I got from work, and I don't plan to get a new laptop any time soon, but if things stay the way they are now, my future laptop would be a Thinkpad too.
