Thinkpad W700 Workstation with Digitizer/Multitouch (pic)

#1 Post by beeblebrox » Tue Apr 29, 2008 11:14 am

Just to tease you a bit,
but by pure coincidence I stumbled upon this photo of the
Thinkpad W700 keyboard layout.

This large touchpad area on the right is a CAD/CAM digitizer pad, right?
Or is it a multitouch pad like on Macs?

for goodies:

(scroll down)

Is this a leak or is it photoshopped? My Russion is pretty bad, the only word I know is "Nastrovje!"

My guess, because I have no idea, is that it's not legit.
The date at the top of the article is 29.01.2008 and it's only been found now?
And why is the picture called "new_keyboard_300"?
Why just the keyboard, where are the hinges / display?

My 2 cent.

In Explorer, hit right button and 'Translate Page into English'. I know it's a machine translation but at least you get the general drift. Works great on Chinese sites as well.

definitely fake.   the volume keys shown are round and should be rectangular like on the X300, plus the large touchpad to the right makes absolutely no sense unless you're a mac owner.

On a 17" laptop, the keyboard will be a fair distance away from the display.

My point was more; would they really build a prototype without "bolting on" a display?

The photo is too small and cropped to include keyboard only. You cannot really conclude if the object photographed is a fully functional laptop or not.

Oh, my God! They found it!)))

Guy, we also discussed this pic - is it fake or real part of new TP...
IMHO, it fake because normal digitizer seems more comfortable in use than such built-in variant.

I kind of like it.
Thats if your looking for a "portable computer" and not realy a laptop.
I like to see the 17" have a 1920x1200 (or more) rez LCD.
Also that extra big touch pad would be nice if it was a touch screen.Something like say UPS uses when you sign for a package.
Also in the 17" monster, would be nice to have spot for 2 maybe 3 SATAII hard drives(with dvd burner).
