Any thinkpads with AMD processors?

Are there any thinkpads with AMD processors? if not, why is it so?

Not as far as I know. Lenovo offers AMD processors in some of their desktop models, though.

ThinkPads had genuine Intel CPUs since the dawn of computing, and will hopefully continue to do so.

Why alter a combination that has worked well for 15 years or so?

For now, at least, Intel CPUs are better for portable computing than are AMD's offerings. Actually, I can't remember any time when that wasn't true, except if you used a P4-based laptop.

Why would you want a CPU (mobile AMD) that has lower processing power and poored thermal chacteristics *and battery life) than the Intel solution?
