New: White Lenovo IdeaPads + Photo of Thinkpad T400

#1 Post by beeblebrox » Tue May 06, 2008 4:22 pm

FYI: Just stumbled on this:

Just released (some white versions of the Ideapads)
Lenovo Tin Yat F41A-PT (Snow Mountain) Notebook

Lenovo sun C466M-MX (Disney Disney version) Notebook

http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=de&l ... 42621.html

Thinkpad T400 (this has a really nice keyboard footprint, almost as close to the edge like the good old T20!)
http://www.sosol.com.cn/html/2008/20084 ... 967_1.html

ok, the original T400 picture seems gone,

but here is a web page with 266 different Lenovo notebooks, a lot of Thinkpads, IdeaPads (with TV tuners), Tin Yats, Xuri, F20 Coca Cola etc.
all in black, red, white, grey, whatever...

A rugged outdoor Thinkpad (or Ideapad?), so Lenovoblogs was right:

and brand new Olympic IdeaCentres and white notebooks (quite cool!)

That T400 has "new X61 as a caption"... it has no touchpad. It even says X61 on the bezel and still has the IBM Thinkpad stickers...

You're right, but I don't know what happened, the embedded photo has suddenly changed. Can it be that they had to take it off?

The video review of the X200 is gone as well... hmm!?

*sniffs* You got me excited there, sad as it may be, I was looking forward to getting a sneak peek at the T400. Thanks for the links anyway.

I'm kind of wondering why you assume these are Ideapads? This isn't stated anywhere. I don't know Lenovo's product lines that well but can see these being China/Asia specific products that don't necessarily fit into how they name their notebooks in the west.

They look extremely similar to the IdeaPads that are marketed internationally.
As far as I know the much more interesting F20 to F40 series is sold only in Asia. Just like the Thinkpads S30, S31 or the 240z. Or the PalmTop PC110.

I hoped that the F20-F40 series would come overseas as well, since they got a red dot design award in Europe last years.

The Asians keep the best stuff for themselves, methinks... 8-(

I doubt those Tian Yi, Xu Ri and the ruggedized models will ever become IdeaPads. They are updates to the existing Lenovo notebook product lines for the China market.

Remember Lenovo was the largest computer maker in China (and about zero business internationally) when they bought IBM's PC division to expand internationally.
