can I plug an internal dvd drive of an t21 on a x61 ?

hi

I've got a t21 with bod problem and I'm looking for an x61

since there's no optical drive on the x61, i'd like to use mine on the t21 as an external dvd drive for the x61 connected on an usb connector or firewire port

here is a photo of the drive:

I'll only use the dvd drive for intalling the os but with this
kind of connection (ide-usb2), is the speed will be enough to install the os or some games?

can i do what i want ?

and what do i need to do it ?

T21's use Ultrabay 2000 drives. The adapter you linked to, while very handy to hook conventional IDE or SATA drives to a USB port will not work on an ultrabay device. A Portable drive bay 2000 would work. Frankly for the X61 an X6 ultrabase with an ultrabay slim CDRW or DVDRW multiburner is more practical and faster. There is an adapter that goes the other way....
