looking to upgrade, new ideapad y510 or used t61?

#1 Post by kds000 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 7:48 pm

i'm looking to upgrade my t42 laptop soon to something newer..the t42 was my first thinkpad and i've grown to love the features that come with the t series. I've been thinking about getting a used t61 to replace it but recently the ideapad y510 has been making me consider otherwise. The pricing on the y510s are pretty good right now with many places offering a rebate on them. Which one would you consider buying in my situation?

They just killed 'em off, but you can still get a 3000-series from retailers. A decent alternative ot the widescreen T-series, if you ask me.
X61 Tablet - 1.6GHz C2D, SXGA+, 1GB RAM, 100GB HD, Vista Business.

i have other laptops but i'll be honest i never use 'em

Can you live without the trackpoint on Y510?

I'd still get a T61...for those times that you get lazy... :D

And they're dirt cheap nowadays...
