ThinkPads in HALL of FAME

#1 Post by cynic » Thu Jun 03, 2004 2:04 am

The first member of the PCWorld Hall of Fame is IBM's ThinkPads!

PCWorld Link

The X40 also was also given the "Best Ultraportable" award. The ThinkPad blurb only points out what us ThinkPad owners have known for years (though it is notable that it would be the first inductee.)

I see that Bill is celebrating this happy event by changing the "stylised Toucan" to something not at all stylised on the front page of this forum...I've been having great fun sliding the cursur over the image...(well it turns into a hand with an outstretched finger right?! And where have I been sliding that finger...? Sorry, been in contact with UNOs too long...)

LOL. A good one Ian. The only problem with the ThinkPad babe is that you can't zoom her, and also she not coming towards me. I wish Bill has another anim showing her other side, so we could alternate her every other day.

G-Man

Please don't post crude pictures in the forums. I opened this thread earlier at work in a cubicle environment after Bill had e-mailed me to tell me the coast was clear. Had someone walking down the aisle seen it and complained, I could have been fired on the spot. I still could if the links to the images were flagged by the filter software on our internet connection.

They're now gone. (Or rather, I changed the last character in the filenames from 1 to a and 2 to b to protect nonny from his boss' software. Sorry.)

Nonny were you being serious? (Sadly I think you were) Are we really in a society that prevents any expression ? Here in France the rules are less strict - within the realms of good taste - and we're still allowed to 'deconne' (let-off-steam) from time to time. Obviously I'm not advocating wide spread use of 'pornography', but are we so sensitive that cartoons such as we've seen here will really cause people problems?

Remember that this is in a country where a fraction-of-a-second exposure to a woman's breast during half time of a football match caused a nationwide uproar and dominated the news for several days. (But it's quite OK to show hour after hour of violence, blood and gore on national television.)

Remember that this is a country where people sue those with deep pockets for the slightest of slights, including an employer who would allow them to be "subjected" to inadvertently viewing "filth" on another employee's computer screen.

You’re right of course – what’s worse than hypocrisy? Absolute hypocrisy…

Let me put it this way - you know the UNO? Well 60hp is great (for snails) but 110hp is better, MUCH better. The turbo kicks in around 1900 revs and from there on up it's pure pleasure (Well, for a small diesel anyway) I spent an hour this morning installing a nice little Clarion Radio/CD/MP3 which reads all my 'home brew' cd's too - looking cool!

I'm back off to the UK on Tuesday - so this will be the acid test - 1003 kilometers from Auch to Calais. Luckily Bill hasn't shipped my 2373CWU otherwise I'd have a REAL hard job knowing what to play with next...
