Does Lenovo/Intel/AMD/MS give out case stickers/badges?

#1 Post by Radioguy » Sat Sep 20, 2008 2:48 am

I know a lot of people like to peel them off, but I'm in the opposite camp. I like them. They can help with resale too, if I ever trade up.

Anyhow, I think I read somewhere on NotebookReview that Microsoft or PC manufacturers sometimes send them out if asked. Is that true of Lenovo? What about Intel or AMD? I could use a few, and would like to know where to send my request, if there's a chance.

Additionally, I received a full promo copy of Vista Business which had a key, but no COA label to apply. (Unlike an express upgrade disc I received for a different PC) Does Microsoft ever issue COA labels after the fact?

I'm fairly certain that MS does not issue COA's after the fact. This has been discussed on the forum before. I do recall that AMD did hand out stickers years ago .... you could try emailing these folks.

Lenovo, I don't know.

Thanks Harry. :)

I'll try that for my DIY A64 desktop. If anyone knows of other contact info, please let me know.

In case anyone wondered, I've had no success with anyone. Shame. It appears I missed the boat on this.

I've got some Athlon thunderbird and Duron case stickersthat i got directly from AMD years ago, when people could request these for free on their webpage... if you're interested

Intel is not giving out Centrino stickers, since to them, they are illegal to use if you don't have an Intel WLAN+LAN, Intel I/O and Host controllers + Intel CPU. They want to make the Centrino a brand, and not something everyone could use. When you order a new palmrest from Lenovo, it'll have a Pentium M, or Core logo.

But yes, ebay is where you should look, as RealBlackStuff said. :)

No need for surprise, they just weren't free. (Yikes at shipping costs too) ;)

I visited that page, and although it's still there and functional, the orders are no longer fulfilled. I even went as far as calling the center, and they said they no longer do fulfillment for AMD anymore. Shame.

It would seem everyone ordered tons of them whether they needed them or not, and are selling them now. I just needed a handful. Not Centrino though, just Pentium M, Vista, Thunderbird, NVIDIA (GeForce, or GeForce 6. Old, I know) and Athlon 64. Anything else would have been icing on the cake.

Thanks for the info.

Recently I had to change my palm rest and lower case cover, the new pieces came without any stickers (... of course it should be so...) however I need at least the serial one to identify my equipment, it is a mess each time I enter a public building or at customs.... I am thinking of scaning the original ones and make cloned copies of them... is there a better idea? why Lenovo doesn't figure out a solution for this little inconvenience we have when repalcing parts?

Computer Badges / Stickers

#10 Post by Truthfinder » Sun Nov 23, 2008 1:41 pm

Hi:

Go to EBay and look for Item number: 230304772007. They have a large selection of badges to pick from. You can choose any 5 for just $2.99 plus $1.99 shipping.
I have ordered them and they are perfect. Keep in mind to let the seller know they are for a notebook so you will get the correct size.
Once you make the purchase, send a email to the seller listing which badges you are want as they are listed by a #.
The seller will send them out via regular mail which takes about 5 days.

Hope this helps.
