I got an odd email today. Odd, because I bought this computer 10 months ago and there were no rebates in effect, and I've filed for none.
But
FROM:confirmation@rebate4u.com <confirmation@rebate4u.com>
SUBJECT:REBATE ID:152716 Lenovo Rebate Received & Initially Approved
told me:
Thank you for purchasing Lenovo products!
Your rebate documentation has been received, initially approved and is awaiting final approval for the check to be issued. Please allow 8-10 weeks from the date of this e-mail for receipt of your rebate check. Go to www.rebate4u.com, click the status link in the web page banner, type your tracking number and phone number to access the status of your rebate.
For questions regarding your rebate contact the Lenovo Promotional Support Center at 1-800-830-0232 and leave a detailed message, including your tracking number, name, call back number and reason for the call and a customer service representative will return your call within 3 business days.
Thank You!

And their links take me to a page that has nothing to do with what I bought. So I'm wondering, if this is a clever scam to collect personal information (like SSNs or direct deposit codes) from lenovo customers, who THINK thye might have a rebate coming.
Anyone know the players on this one?
