About six weeks ago I got an email referring to my Lenono Rebate being processed, and since I hadn't made a recent purchase OR submitted any rebate form, I knew there was something crooked about the email.
Well....Crooked isn't quite the right term. Today I got a check in the mail from the Lenono Promotional Support Center, explaining that since their expert services program was being discontinued, they were sending me a "rebate" for the amount I had prepaid for a service call. Apparently, someone at Lenono isn't aware that they may have contractual obligations to keep their prepaid support lines opened and manned, and their clever solution to closing this department down is to send out "rebates" to their customers.
In YnGlitch, we call this a REFUND, not a REBATE.
I'm just glad they didn't try to send the letter out in Mandarin, based on a Hong Kong Bank and made out in yen.
So if you get funny emails about rebates, or funny junk mail that looks like it has a real check in it....yes Virginia, there is a Sen Te Claus.
