T43 EasyServ Repair Report---Fantastic Service!

I have a ThinkPad T43 that went off warranty on 26DEC2008, new in December, 2005.

The Flexview LCD screen back light had been progressively getting worse since summer AND I had to resort to using an external monitor the past 3 months or so, didn't have time to get it fixed.

Well, with the warranty fast reaching the end, I made the call to Lenovo on 17DEC. They overnighted a prepaid shipping box. I got this put in the box and dropped off at the local UPS store on 24DEC2008, BUT too late to make the next day air deadline. It finally got on a UPS truck on the 29th and went to Memphis, TN, arriving on the 30th at 0800. Repairs were made and it scanned out of Memphis at 2254 on the same day and arrived back to me today, 31DEC at 1404. I am in Oregon, so this made a round trip across the USA and was repaired in three days total.

I am more than pleased with this service, I can't fault UPS for the initial delay, I believe they were shut down from Christmas day until Monday the 29th. I was in no hurry, and in actuality, this was a 3 day turn around from my doorstep.

The repair center replaced the entire LCD screen assembly and the keyboard bezel with included fingerprint reader as the reader also seemed to be intermittent, updated the BIOS and checked it out.

I pulled the hard drive, CD drive and battery out before shipping.

Amazingly fast and good service, I now have what looks like a brand new laptop.

I have a USB Universal Drive Adapter that will turn just about ANY hard drive into an external hard drive, I was able to access ALL of my data on another machine while the laptop was in for repair.

Just thought I would post this bit of good news, since this was my first experience with IBM/Lenovo service. Couldn't be happier!
