Great service from Lenovo/EZserve

#1 Post by sktn77a » Fri Jan 02, 2009 10:02 am

Well, my son's T42 has had the dying CCFL backlight problem for several weeks now. So Monday evening (~9.00pm, 29th), I called Lenovo and explained the problem to them. They gave me a case number and said they would send out a box to ship it in. 9.00am the next morning (~9.00am, 30th), the box arrives from UPS. I pack up the computer, call UPS, who come back mid afternoon to pick it up. Got an e-mail yesterday (1st) that the repair was completed and 9.00am this morning (2nd), the computer is delivered by UPS with a beautiful bright new 15" flexview screen! They also repalced the CDRW/DVD drive which had been giving me read errors. All screws replaces, nothing sloppy (that I can see).

So chalk another good repair by IBM/Lenovo and EZserve depot service (I had the motherboard replaced a year ago under the original warranty - the present repair was done under a 2 year extension to the original warranty).

I now have a great T42 with a 2.0GHz Pentium M 755, 2gb RAM, 100Gb 7200 rpm Hitachi HDD, ATI9600 graphics (which, hopefully, shouldn't have the graphics chip problem now that the mobo has been replaced), new flexview screen and new DVD/CDRW!

All came together quite nicely. Thank you Lenovo!

sktn77a,

Hey! Thanks for taking a few moments to relay a bit of good news. Certainly, we all expect repairs to go well and so it's understandable when people post the adverse exceptions, and it's much appreciated that you share this positive one!

Best regards,

Mark
