Online Thinkpad Merchants

#1 Post by Alejandro Audisio » Sun Jan 18, 2009 6:12 am

As Im back in the market for a ThinkPad, Ive been re-visiting some internet merchants that usually stock refurbished TPads. I used to see a good selection at ThinkPad World... but their site seems to be down, and on Ebay, they are listing the store as closed...? Anybody know what happened...?

At this point, the best selection I seem to find is from Thinkpad Depot... their site is:

http://www.thinkpaddepot.com/

Does anybody have experience or feedback from these guys..? Also, they seem to have NEW machines in stock... is it normal for T43's to still be available new so late in the game...?

Thanks,
Alex

Absolutely... I will also be checking out what the folks here have to offer, no question about that.

I just want to keep my options open and I am rather curious to read what folks think about the apparently "new" T43s that some vendors seem to be offering.

ThinkPad World has had very mixed (and I'm being kind here) reviews from forum members...personally, at their prices, one can do a lot better, and their warranty leaves quite a bit to be desired from what I've gathered...read the small print...

I know nothing of the other company, but find the prospect of a new T43p for $1999 absolutely hilarious...sure, for that amount of money, there must be one in an unopened box, pulled out of some forgotten IBM/lenovo stock room...

Last T43/p units rolled off the assembly line well over two years ago. It would be nice to find an unused one, but not at the price of three mint used pieces with warranty remaining...
