Ditto ... I'm bogged down by the change to only widescreens. Atleast that I can adjust to (eventually). But colors other than black, brrrrr, can't even think of it.

If I ever get bored enough to consider a ThinkPad in another colour, I'll be calling underclocker and having him set up a Seafoam Green (as in late 50's Fender guitars and finned cars) A31p for me...

I'm prepared for the flames, but IF a limited "reserve" type edition was produced in red with black highlights (essentially inverse coloring), I would be inclined to consider it. Especially if it retained the rubberized coating in red.

However, "fruiting" the ThinkPad line with "flavors" is unThinkable.

I may be in the minority, but as long as I could buy one in a “business” color (e.g. black, or charcoal/gray) other available colors would be irrelevant. If someone wanted one orange, more power to ’em.

Not having a track point, however, would be a different issue.

wow. red with black highlights actually gives me a pretty awesome image in my head! but, really, the novelty would disappear after a while and I'd go back to my black X31. black is where it's at (in my opinion)

Agreed, I prefer black overall. However, I think this would be a nice momentary diversion. Unfortunately, the huge Lenovo bezel stickers on lids these days would ruin it for me. I'm for Lenovo keeping it's logo to the clear LED plates and putting "ThinkPad" everywhere else.

And I think it would be even cooler to remove all Lenovo "brandings" from the front next to the model and from the back of the screen on the newer ThinkPad series. The ThinkPad logo is just cool enough, so I don´t think they would be doing any mistake with this

both still had a somewhat business feel though, anything beyond that would probably be too much

Wow, nice finding! This 330 looks rather somewhat military, it only misses some green spots on it to become really camouflaged The keyboard reminds me of the good all times, it really looks that geeky, doesn´t it...

I said the same, except for the clear plate (which I assume you are also referring to). While I prefer the IBM logo to the Lenovo one, Lenovo is the brand now, and you can't remove it entirely, nor should anyone expect such a thing. However, going by the design differences between the other Lenovo laptops and IdeaPads, the ThinkPad branding had been elevated over their own until recently. That elevation was understandable as this was their elite line now, seemingly almost a brand unto itself. Unfortunately, they have backtracked on this and just whop a huge "lenovo" on the lid now too. For the overall TP design, it's killing it. It's far worse than removing red strips from the buttons.

Exactly! The Lenovo branding next to the LEDs is just killing all the aesthetics of these machines, isn´t it... I hope Lenovo will reconsider their branding strategy. Just "ThinkPad" is by so much simpler and cleaner and more beautiful...

I think it makes ThinkPads look cheap, like cheap Chinese "dumping" electronics, which really doesn´t justify the price of ThinkPads... What is worse, it contradicts by much to the simple and clean design of ThinkPads the way we know it. And while I hereby seem to be very picky about details, it´s also the detail that makes a product like ThinkPads that great. If one pays premium price for a product, one expects that there has been taken care to all details including the way a product is branded in a wider sense. Of course, one could always argue, don´t buy it if you don´t like it, but that´s really not a point considering the fact that plenty of ThinkPad buyers have been loyal to the brand for years...

yeah. that website is awesome for thinkpad geekiness. and that model was an interesting one that I don't think many have heard about. a budget model.

also, I think that the IBM logo looks way cooler than the Lenovo logo, especially in 3 colors.
