Well, let's take the W700ds:Buy now or wait for rumored TX__ with a 400GB HDD, a 12Ghz CPU, the hottest GPU ever dreamed, a foldup 20" screen, and costs and weighs less than half the price of current T models?
400GB HDD: W-series can take up to dual 320 GB HDDs non-RAID Lenovo configured (640 GB), or dual 500 GB HDDs non-RAID aftermarket configured (1 Terabyte) [check]
12 Ghz CPU: Well, Quad-core clocked at 2.53 Ghz / core = ~10 GHz, but the architecture is much better and it is parallel processing [borderline check]
hottest GPU ever dreamed: 128-core CUDA GPU w/ 1 GB memory... well back then 1 GB system memory was pretty good so... [check]
foldup 20" screen: I have to admit reading the FAQ for the first time years ago this was the most far-fetched spec, but: 17" WUXGA 400NIT TFT + retractable 10.6"WXGA+ TFT [check]
costs and weighs less than half the price of current T models: ~$3000 base and it weighs a ton, so OK [no check]
I believe we're getting there though. So if you've been holding your breath these past 5 years, well, 1) nice lung capacity, and 2) spring for one now!
