not an expert or anything, but I believe that the smallest thinkpads are 12" X series (not quite as small as your 240, which I think are 10"). The X200s has pretty snappy performance with a max of 1.8ghz core 2 duo low voltage (also incredible battery-life, I believe). the regular X200 won't be quite as small and light or long in battery life, but still quite acceptable, and probably faster, but I don't really know. those are probably your best chance at a fast/small/light thinkpad. I would love any of them, but I'm pretty content with my X31, as well (yummy 4:3 aspect ratio and 4.5h battery, but not super slow either)
