Loctite # 222
Loctite # 222
As you may be aware, IBM/Lenovo recommends using brand new nylon coated screws to reassemble a Thinkpad. Loctite makes a low strength thread locker, # 222. I was wondering if anyone ever used this product to put Thinkpad screws back in? Also, if you can think of any disadvantages to using such a product on a Thinkpad, please let me know. The reason I selected Loctite 222 is because it would make dis assembly easier.
Re: Loctite # 222
I would give it a try. I have used Loctite 242 (blue) medium strength, as well as Loctite 271 (red) high strength, and Loctite 640 (green) very high strength at work, so I have some idea how Loctite works. For the small screws of a ThinkPad, Loctite 222 (purple) low strength should be just the ticket. I have not personally used Loctite 222.
