Best place to get TP accessories?

#1 Post by CoolRunnings » Thu Jan 27, 2005 11:07 pm

I'm looking for an inexpensive place to get some Thinkpad accessories. I have a T42 and I'm looking to buy an extended battery, a port replicator, and a second hard drive adapter for the ultra-bay. Does anyone have any recommendations besides eBay?

i would do ebay for the port rep. shop around, i got my x3 ultrabase for my x31 with a dvd/cdrw for 160 shipped brand new in box.

im sure someone on here has an extra hd adapter for sale, and the battery i would get from ibm, just because i would not want to get stuck with an aftermarket one

Thanks for the advice... I just broke down and got the adapter on Ebay. Cost me just shy of $60. I'm thinking of going through NewEgg for the battery.

CoolRunnings...be careful. I have read several posts on here that non-IBM batteries don't work with IBM"s Battery Maximizer or Power Management program...can't remember which. Do a search in this forum and you'll see what I mean. Don't know if it affects your TP, but it might.

For just under 100 I got the ultrabay slim battery, and it's amazing. since you got the 2nd hard drive battery I doubt you'd be willing to give that up for extra life though. Got the battery on eBay, it's an IBM part and came new/sealed.

Yeah I was just looking at one of those... $90 right? What type of life do you get with that and what battery combination are you using? Can you give me a rough idea with and without wireless? I'm finding that 2 hours is closer to normal with wifi on the 6cell battery. I wouldn't mind "lugging" an extra bay battery with me if it makes a big difference...

2 Hours?? I managed over 5 with just the standard battery that comes with the thinkpad.

I haven't tested actual rundown time with the new battery setup.
