I certainly won't disagree with that statement... (somebody sounds just like me). Re: Thinkpad netbook
As the article suggests it does indeed look similar to the VAIO-P recently released by Sony. A machine that in typical Sony fashion is sold for a very high price. Just my personal opinion, but it looks like the designers had more power to style it to their liking than the engineers had to build it for functionality. What an odd form factor?

Let's hope this isn't the final thinkpad netbook.
Nah, it can't be a thinkpad. The trackpoint isn't red!

Re: Thinkpad netbook
The folding keyboard is mentioned in lenovo blogs, hope that something like that will come out.
Re: Thinkpad netbook
I agree, this is a terrific opportunity for Lenovo to do something creative. Recently I read where they are about to release an IdeaPad S20 Netbook (I forgot to capture the link) however little else in the way of info was provided. Time will tell, and it will be interesting to see what it's like.ssd_thinkpad wrote:The folding keyboard is mentioned in lenovo blogs, hope that something like that will come out.
Finally I must say that for the price (under $200 with eCoupon), I've been very impressed with my S10 and it's terrific build quality, choice of high quality materials and very solid keyboard. I highly endorse this machine.

I dislike that lenovo p series thing. too much wide screen, too small of a screen, not black enough. not a real thinkpad!

It's ok, but I find that whole uber-widescreen too-small-to-use thing unappealing.

Lenovo unveils Pocket Yoga touchscreen ultraportable

http://www.liliputing.com/2009/03/lenov ... table.html
It resembles the Psion (in some ways).
PS I put this here since it is closer to the S series instead of the larger laptops.

Really wonder how you can use this extreme wideness screen. Open three browsers next to each other and really multitask on this small model?

Thinkpad Netbook - will it happen - or are we wishing for something that is not going to be?
I would prefer a ultraportable X70 or X100, 10 inch screen, but with thinkpad build quality and thinkpad features. Not a stripped down machine.
There's a gap in the market - as Lenovo is so quiet on this issue - I think Lenovo are working on something - here's hoping!

Exactly, just what a Thinkpad netbook should be.
Re: What if Lenovo was to make a ThinkPad branded netbook?
I think it would be nice. But putting ThinkPad brand name on a netbook would set some high requirements/expectations. I also hope they won´t implement that thick-bezel-design

Re: What if Lenovo was to make a ThinkPad branded netbook?
Bah humbug. After a week of using my X200s, I no longer notice the bezel. There are so many good things (including the full-size keyboard which dictates the presence of the bezel) about the the X200/X200s that the bezel issue is really molehill, not a mountain.Marin85 wrote:I think it would be nice. A proper X000 or X100 series, with the ThinkPad features and build quality, could be very nice indeed. But is there enough of a market for one, between the current X series and the low-cost netbooks?

Re: What if Lenovo was to make a ThinkPad branded netbook?
I agree with you 100%. At first I was quite put off by the wider bezels and especially the offset display, and yet I challenged myself to just accept it. After the first hour or so on it, I don't even notice anymore.tomh009 wrote:Bah humbug. After a week of using my X200s, I no longer notice the bezel. <snip>

As far as netbooks are concerned I must admit that I'm shocked at how much fun I'm having with my IdeaPad S10. I would love to see a ThinkPad netbook with an 11.1" display so as to position it between the S10 and the X60s I enjoy so much. Priced right and with a thin, clean design Lenovo would have a real winner on their hands. I truly believe there is plenty of demand in the market place. After all, by simply looking at the skyrocketing sales in that market segment, it's no secret that they are in high demand. Give us a TrackPoint and we are good to go.
Cheers...
