Differences in models?

Specifically R's and T's. I may have the answer already but if I remember T's are business right? And R's aren't. I want to start researching for my next purchase (not anytime soon but better to be prepared!) and see a lot of R's and T's on Fleabay.

I think that would depend on which T and R series you are comparing. As a general rule the R series is little thicker and heavier than the T series. The also use thicker optical drives because of this. The T60 and R60 can be configured very closely, except for the GPU on the T60p and the lack of the mag-alloy lid on the R60. The newer T series has more options that the R lacks like WWAN and the discrete GPU to name a couple. Construction wise the 14" T and R are very similar, but the 15" R lacks the roll cage in the lid and is a bit more clunky if you ask me.

Big difference is summed up in previous: R is "bit more clunky" than T. Or to put it another way, a T is a slimmed down R. To slim off that extra .25 inch of thickness and .25 kilo of weight requires further engineering (money) and sometimes creates problems in the T that the R does not have, such as flexing due to thinness and/or poor heat dissipation due to reduced airflow room.

Besides the minor thickness and weight, to justify the price differences, Lenovo had to differentiate a little more, so they did not offer some things in the R line that did come in the T line for a given series.

Still, they are like two variations on a car model, standard and SE or whatever. Same basic machine except for the graphics and LCD options on the T. The docks, batteries and power supplies are generally interchangeable and T optical drives fit in Rs, though Rs not in Ts.

If you don't need extra thin and light and you like the features, then an equivalent R model is usually a better value.

The R series being thicker generally runs a bit cooler. The thickness can have it's advantages.
