After shipment notification, how much longer? CTO Thinkpads

#1 Post by Tableteer » Wed May 20, 2009 12:40 pm

Hello. I recieved a "shipment notification" email. It's for a CTO Thinkpad. Once this email is sent, about how long does it to reach your doorstep? What is your experience? I'm in a major Canadian city.

Known to Canadians outside of the GTA as The Centre of the Universe ;)

But to answer your question, if the system ships from China, expect about a week to arrive here, clear customs and get delivered to you.

A week or so sounds about right for a system shipping to Canada. In the US if two day shipping is selected when placing the order it will generally arrive in two or three days, unless it involves a weekend, or gets delayed in customs. One things for certain here in the US, based on my experience this year. UPS international shipments do not track accurately. Three out of three CTO orders I've placed have arrived 2 or more days sooner than reported on the web site, as well as when calling UPS for a confirmation. No wonder FedEx has market share.

Yipee! I am now the owner of a new X200 tablet with almost all the bells and whistles.

You are all correct...it took exactly a week from that shipping notice email to a Canadian city with an international airport.

Even BTO models are assembled in China a Lenovo rep said. That's in contrast in Sony which I understand has an assembly plant in the US for customized systems.

Never having ordered from Lenovo before, I had a worrisome vision - it would make its way slowly on a cargo ship, dock in Vancouver and railed across this big country to Toronto. From markings on the outer box, it was put on an Air Canada flight as cargo. It was probably held in a local Lenovo or Lenovo authorized distribution center. UPS then did the final leg of the delivery. They required ID for this one in addition to the usual signature on their electronic pad.
