T60p sharing files on wireless home network

I've had my T60p for a couple years and I recently purchased a refurbished Dell desktop pc which I plan to use as my home network server. I want to share all the files from my lap top. The desktop notices and can share with the other laptops in my house, but not the T60p.

I have Windows XP Pro on the T60p and Vista on the desktop. I would appreciate any advice you have. Thanks

Can you see the T60p at all? Is it in the same workgroup?

Can you ping the desktop from a command prompt on the laptop?

Is file & printer sharing enabled on the T60p? Are you sharing at least one folder on the T60p? Is the "failure" bi-directional? In other words, can the T60p map a drive to an exported share on the desktop?

FWIW at least some versions of ThinkVantage Access Connections turn off file sharing globally by default. That means that even if you enable file sharing in Windows, every time AC starts, e.g. after every reboot, it will disable file sharing.
