I know this has been discussed many times before, but I think I just got a huge dose of how bad some of the newer screens are!

I use an R60 at work, so it has one of the lower end panels which I'm used to (after 3 years with it). And I usually don't spend a lot of time with computers on the weekends, but this last weekend was different. I spend the majority of it working on either my T42 or my wife's R52, both fitted with 15" Flexview screens....and Holy Smoke! My R60 is looking VERY washed out and lacking in contrast today!

Maybe it's my aging eyes! :(

It's pretty amazing, isn't it?

In my case, bad eyesight has helped me developed a particular taste for the screens...comes down to one question: how soon will the headache arrive.

With a FlexView, it's half a day or thereabouts.

With a 14" SXGA+ T42 that I've been lugging around lately, less than two hours...

In the past (at least with the 5 machines before the current), I've always used 14.1" T Series computers that had the SXGA+ resolution, so I never got used to a Flexview. On the other hand, I put my wife on one, 2 generations ago since she has bad eyesight and tolerates the higher res only on a 15" Flexview.

Recently I gave up my T42p since I got the T42/15" (w/Flexview) working and now have an X41 for travel. And this last weekend working on Flexview equipped machines for many hours, I got used to it. ....The; HOLY SMOKE, I came in to work on Monday and started doing what I normally do on my R60 (with a TN screen) and it looked so washed out that I had the campus tech come in to look at in because I thought it was about to go out!

Unfortunately I think the light blues and greys that the forum uses contribute to this phenomenon as well. :(
