Not active, don't search there... I'm already registered on enough "social networking" sites such as MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, MyLife, etc., that I don't/can't keep up with as it is.

we are seeking one or two forum members to tweet about the forum and any interesting forum threads or thinkpad deals from thinkpads.com website..

I'm dabbling with Twitter, but I love Facebook - it makes it so easy to keep up with family members that I don't see often in a centralized location. And it's very simple for my older relatives who aren't computer-savvy to learn to use. They don't post much, but they love reading the chatter between the rest of us and seeing all the pictures. We used to use a Yahoo! group, but some of our family (and not just the older ones) kept having problems with it (PEBKAC). FB is much simpler everyone all around - particularly for their tech support person... I don't get nearly as many complaints now.

I would consider doing this for my "avatar", but I hardly ever go on. I've heard it's simpler to use than Facebook but I don't see that............

To me, it's a really different kind of thing than FB, and I certainly use it for a different purpose. It definitely makes me work to condense my thoughts down to 140 characters particularly if I'm including a link. And people used to call me succinct anyway!

If I understand what Bill is interested in doing, though, it would involve finding conversations that are already going on here or on the thinkpads.com blog and tweeting about them in hopes of attracting new forum members without resorting to spamming techniques (ie add a helpful comment rather than just posting a link). Bill will, I hope, correct me if I've interpreted that wrong.

I'm fairly active with my Twitter account. I rarely "Tweet" but I do follow several people and groups, mainly for quick news, updates, and reports of things that interest me.

the whole idea was to present interesting forum activities to a broad audience, NOT to tweet about dropping na screw while adding memory..

the response has been underwhelming.. i.e. dead silence except for these few preceeding comments..

SO, lets just forget the whole idea..

I took a liking to Twitter because it's very general tool -- you can use it for whatever you like. I use it often, but I write mostly for myself, not an audience, and I don't often engage in "conversation" (replies, retweets, and so on). I follow a reasonably small number of people, and a large proportion are personal friends and acquaintances.
