What do the pics you posted have anything to do with a widescreen ThinkPad? Sounds like a load of BS to me..

Well, it's still under testing, but believe it or not it's from a widescreen ThinkPad.

Sorry, I don't have time to translate all the article, but the keywords are:

Sonoma 915PM 533MHz Dothan DDRII PCI-E
ATi MOBILITY Radeon X300 BGA
Broadcom BCM575

There is a widescreen comeing. Probably late Q2.

But this should not be under the T-Series forum.

I don't believe or disbelieve it, but unfortunately these pictures are pretty useless in every sense of the word. Nothing indicates it's a thinkpad, nothing indicates it's widescreen.

All it says is that somewhere in the world, someone has a digital camera with modest macro capabilities, a green PCB, and some intel/ATI/broadcom chips.
IBM ThinkPad T42p (2373-7XU): 1.8GHz/1024MB, 15" UXGA, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.
T42 (2374-3VU): 1.7GHz/512MB, 14.1"SXGA+, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.

The layout and tightness of the chips would seem to indicate a space-constrained device. Mobile, tablet, embedded, who knows. One thing I really like are the couple of green wires added after the fact, or so it seems in the first two images. Obviously a mock up, or a design that forgot a few things! I have seen such after-the-fact wiring in routers and hubs, but not in a notebook!

Cool pics if you like to look at PCBs and chips, otherwise, nothing to note....

Oh I'll beleive that. Widescreen is the new Black (get it?)...doh.

I'd be interested in a widescreen 15" T42, especially if they used the X40 keyboard layout and crammed in a functional 10-key pad ;)

come on guys..
cut edmonton a break.. a little slack.. :)

leeper seems to agree..

the pics ARE a bit generic but little bits of info here and there can be knit into a whole picture.. just takes time..

lets all reserve judgement for a while or until more leaks out about a widescreen thinkpad..
