Which Thinkpad - my x60s is too small
Finally moved up from x40 to x60s and was really excited about the horsepower, but two weeks in got a Google Chrome laptop for free and put the x60s aside. Now the beta period is over and I love the form/size/weight/battery life of the google unit, but the compromises working in the cloud - not so much.
The x60s is just too small.
So I'm looking at widescreen, SATA, that are reasonably light (no 7 pound monsters), reasonably quick, with good battery life (plus 3 hours at minimum - 5 would be better). Don't do number crunching or games, but would like to watch Netflix. Webcam would be nice but not a must have.
I'd be selling the x60s so would add up to $200 to what I get from that.
ideas?

Is $200 the total you are looking to spend, or do you mean that is what you are hoping to get from the X60?
I would look for a T60 if your budget is $200. For more you could get a T61, slightly more you could get a T61, slightly more yet and you could land a T400. However not all T60s were widescreen, and I believe the 4:3 format is more common lately, at least for the T60s I have seen on here. I think the best idea would be to post these requirements and your budget in a WTB ad in the forum marketplace.

I could go up to $300-$400 total. Hopefully, my x60s with dock will fetch 200+ on here.
I'm looking at T60s but widescreen are hard to find and T61 seem pricey.

In the true ThinkPad line, with a $300-$400 budget (X60s + $200), I'd say you're best bet would be a T400. If you can stretch to $500 and be patient, you might even find a T410, which are a big step up from a T400. T410 models have flush six cell batteries and Core CPUs.
In the 15.4" lines, the T61 or T500 with at least the WSXGA+ LCD would be great. I have and use both.
Alternately, for a step-down in quality and flexibility, the ThinkPad Edge 14 or 15 are a well equipped machines for the money and new/refurb. models frequenly show up in the Lenovo outlet in the $400 range.

T400 for $300-$400? You must be very lucky. I paid $550 for my T400, purchased on the forum although it is in mint condition and under warranty. I am also limited by my location I suppose.

Re: Which Thinkpad - my x60s is too small
I guess the deal with the T6x machines is the weight. Putting an extended battery on it to get decent hours makes it a hefty load to carry around all day. But the price keeps me looking at them versus the newer Lenovo offerings. I looked at the X100e and it's small too, haven't seen the 14" edge in person. Never seen a t400 either.

The T400 is basically identical to a 14.1" widescreen T61, just slightly lighter at 4.85lbs. (+ battery) Maybe a good balance would be an X300 or X301? They are 13" machines, but will be harder to find in your price range.

Both this X300 and T60/15" are priced right to sell here on the Forum:
