Lenovo Customer Service is bad

#1 Post by waterloo » Thu Oct 06, 2011 12:32 pm

* I opened a case due to the hissing battery noise in August
* I sent it in for repair and was told the mobo was backlogged, then was told Lenovo refused to fix my part etc etc.
* I got calls from people saying they were from IBM or Lenovo to describe ^^ situation
* Eventually got my original notebook back mid September
* Trying to get a 1 year extension or replacement..
* It's October and it is still not resolved
* The call reps are confused when I say people from IBM called because they keep telling me only people from Lenovo should have called...
* They were likely employees from IBM working for Lenovo

WOW. Now I know why my T510 was so cheap...

LONG READ

Its not in depot - I got the notebook back after the rep from IBM tried to move up my case after I was refused the new motherboard. So I asked for warranty increase and was told I needed to do this myself. So I asked for the notebook back and called tech about a day or so after I got my notebook back. ~ Sept 12.

I got the manager on the phone, his name, email, and was told he'd move the case up to the next "tier." I finally got a hold of somebody on October 6 (no real contact since the 12th) and was told they couldn't give me a warranty increase for the time it was in the repair depot. She was told a different story then what I told the manager & then she mentioned I wasn't assigned to her case!? I still pushed and refused to take no and clearly explained my situation and then was told a new story. The T510 is RAID because I had already replaced this notebook before in January, not through technical support but through the 14 day policy (I forget exact name), for the same issue.

She said I would likely have to get a replacement T510 but because it's no longer available I would get a similar spec T520. She said she'd call me back. Problem with her idea is I got $600 off through coupons, so how the heck would I get similar spec t520!? The invoice states my T510 as being around ~$1600 and I got ~$600 + they will take into consideration the fact I had the replacement since March (I'm guessing about this).

I find it interesting the initial rep from the depot didn't even bring this RAID scenario up even though they knew this was my 2nd replacement.

ALSO - What is most frustrating is I put a "letter" explaining this whole situation on a piece of paper signed and dated when the notebook was sent to the depot. They didn't even read it so everybody I talk to doesn't know my situation.

Lenovo's giving me the roundabout. Any advice?

Thanks for any ideas!

hi there
matey - I would ADD THIS CASE on our sister forum - LENOVO COMMUNITYpage
and let someone from there ALSO PUSH your case. My latop was "LOST' in system for 3 weeks , seems noone @ canada deopt repair could find it <<huge worry as i sent HD also>

I had kinda simialr thing(s) happen to my personal W Series (while I was in Lodon ON - not far form U) so seems weird , that Canada tech Support = just as good  as USa ones. I would take NO for answer !!

Long story short - I got NEW W series (but they dont make MICRO drive RAID) anymore , which sucks for me !

oh yeah - I got 'reffered to - LENOVO DELIGHT TEAM !!! must be play on words that p* off customers get reffered to a DELIGHT TEAM --- thought that was funny ! AND worse part - my warranty is still 'stuck' same as OLD LOST LATOP!!!

so now I switched to DELL - M6400 with 15.6inch IPS panel - sher joy to use !(so far)

hope this helps

Lenovo got the T series into being a more cheaper product that allows it be less of a "niche" product so general consumers could buy it but as a result these new thinkpads just are crap -_-. I am currently going back to using my T43 (5+ YEARS NO PROBLEMS except regular replacement of like keyboard like every 2 years) and HP NC6000 (also like 5+ years) notebooks. The T510 can't be used in class, too many tell me it's very noisy and the hissing noise is REALLY annoying to people trying to study @ the library. Sigh now I'm stuck in this process with Lenovo that's taking a month + week or so to figure out bleh. Just pathetic Lenovo!

I’ve been stuck in Manaus in northern Brazil for over a month because Lenovo doesn’t fix my ThinkPad. I got so frustrated that I’ve started a blog about it.
