Who says I'm fresh, man?

I did a doubletake today when I noticed next to the message
I'd just posted, when it appeared in the forum, it now said
"Freshman Member" underneath my name.

I've been looking in the faqs for how the little profile shown on
the left-hand side of a message is created, and haven't really
found an explanation; there are things that appear there that
don't come from what I see in my profile page.

But with this one, I think I figured it out. I had just added yet
another ThinkPad to my signature, and now owned five
of the little buggers.

That must be it! The more ThinkPads you own, the higher
your level of membership!

OK, I was just kidding. What I also noticed was that I had just
posted my 50th message (a piddling number next to those
of the ThinkPad Giants on this site), and that was no doubt
what triggered the "promotion."

But my question remains then, is this documented
anywhere I've missed?

Amusing to see the thread started with draco2527 happy to
have reached freshman, but the description on the left for
