PHONEY, BAD, NON-WORKING or MIS-TYPED E-Mail address's
I get too many of these:
************START*************
.net 007: This e-mail message was undeliverable due to the
following reason:
.net 018: Each of the following recipients were rejected by a
destination mail system.
Note: The reasons given by the destination mail system are included
to help you determine why each recipient was rejected.
Solution:
Attempt to resend, or contact the recipient by alternate means to let
them know about the issue.
Recipient: <jimman@nate.com>
Reason: 5.1.1 No such user <jimman@nate.com>
*************END*************
i get these because i am the admin and the system sends notices out to users..
IF your email address is not good for any reason (mailbox full, phoney, mis-typed or the like) and i get more than one or two notices like the one above, i will delete your user id.
thanks..

IRT "SPAM"..
perhaps i should make the open forum a bit less open and require all to register..
i.e. no more guests wandering in and out..
thus no "bots" can get in to harvest any email address's IF they can do that now..?
BTW, this is called thread drift..

You could ask for people to click on a link, enter their mail and then send confirmation only to that address - the problem with this is maintaining it - do you have the time (and energy) to 'police' a system like that or do you simply accept the fact that there will be people who drift in from time to time and leave a mess...

(From http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/#section3_2_2_1 )Enable account activation - When set to None, a user may log in as soon as he/she registers. When set to User, a user must validate his email address before logging in. The user will be sent an email with an activation link. When the user clicks this link, their account is activated and he/she may log in. When set to Admin, a user's account must be activated by an administrator. That option is available too ( http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/#section3_2_2_7 )admsteiner wrote:The other option would be to make admin@thinkpads . com or something and have the messages go there.

Re: Spam
I've been here for a while, and I've yet to receive a single spam message with the email address I signed up with. Ironically, I got me this address to sign up for public forums etc expecting that that would attract most spammers. Fancy, that.jimman wrote:I hate spam, too.
