can a faster cpu help improve video performance?

lets say i have t61 with t7100 cpu and integrated intel graphics, for example. since gpu is not upgradable, will putting a t9500 cpu improve video performance at all (i.e, gaming, 3d, HD videos, etc)?

i know it will not compare to discreet gpu but is there going to be an improvement?

Don't forget that you'll most likely need a modded BIOS to get an older Merom T61 board to support a Penryn CPU.

yes i know about the modified bios for the t61. but generally speaking, will a cpu upgrade improve video?

Yes, but probably not that much.

Intel integrated GPUs offload varying amounts of work to the CPU depending on the generation of the GPU, the type of GPU workload, the drivers, etc.

The exact amount that it will help (or not) is nearly impossible to say. It depends on too many factors.
