Help restore and recovery

#1 Post by daro346 » Sat Nov 19, 2011 5:57 pm

I have a Lenovo x61s. I have the rescue and recovery cd's. I am trying to wipe the disk clean and install win XP to the original factory settings. I am getting the following error messages:

After inserting disk 1 after the files have copied:
"error copying file D:\mfg\rcten007.eps. Error23:data error (cyclic redundancy check)
No problems with disks 2-6
Then I get "product recovery could not find x:\preboot\utils\coment.cmd"

I have tried reinstalling a couple of times and get the same errors

Any ideas?

I suspect you have a bad disk.

Thanks...Is it possible to download the software from Lenovo and boot from a USB? or do I need to call for a replacement disk?

As far as I know, Lenovo doesn't offer any kind of OS download. You can try to get a replacement disk from Lenovo, but unless you are still under warranty, I doubt they will be of much help. You will probably have better luck with a WTB (want to buy) ad in the market place section of the forum. Someone is likely to have a complete set of disks (or at least copies) that you could get for little more than shipping costs.
