USB key won't work on the thinkpad...

Hmm sitting here at school trying to do some work, and I want to listen to some radiohead meanwhile.

The music is on my creative mp3 player, but when I plug it into the thinkpad, the creative lights up with the "pc-transfer" icon as it's supposed to, but the thinkpad doesn't notice, nothing happens. Same when I try a friend's USB key... in disk management the usb-key is not displayed either!

Any ideas ?

Has any other USB device worked for you?

If so, perhaps you need to get connected, plug your player in, open Device Manager, right-click the top most icon and run "Scan for hardware changes" with the hopes of the player being detected and installed.

If not, check to see if the USB port is enabled.

i dont know much about usb, but i know there is a 2.0 and a 1.1 (i think) so your mp3 may not be compatible with earlier usb versions.
