I love these types of questions...

If I were you i would take it all apart and go from there...

Also you can not just switch LCDs- you will need the correct LCD cable...

For the pricing involved and the voiding of your wrnty, i'd just sell the xga model and buy an sxga model..

It's really really easy.

As long as you have the field hardware manual. But you might want to get a speaker magnent to hold all of the screws that you'll be unscrewing in the process... :)

I think the different resoultion screens use different connecotrs. Even if not though, they still require different BIOS.

When I upgraded my main 760 to the equivalent of a 760XD, to get the XGA screen functional, I had to replace the videoboard and the motherboard.

It depends. If you mean to swap out the entire display assembly (from the hinges up,) it may not be too hard. Don't attempt this without d/l and studying the hmm first.

I recently replaced the 12" 800 x 600 display on my old tp with a 14" 1024 x 768 unit found on ebay for $50. Took about a half-hour, about a dozen screws removed. I studied the parts list first, to be confident that it would fit, and be compatible.

As a bonus, I now have the dandy little white LED that illuminates the keyboard. The switch for the kb light even has a piece of luminous material on it, so it is visible in the dark!

Good luck!
